Fred Heilman Obituary


Frederick E. Heilman (1944-2010)

Our beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Fred Heilman, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 while tending to his mother’s funeral in Minnesota.

Fred was born February 10, 1944, in Albert Lea, MN; the second son of Robert and Doris (Kjos) Heilman. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1962. Fred served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-66, aboard the USS Ticonderoga. On June 28, 1965 Fred married Sandy (Schwartz), who passed in 1995. In 1982, Fred arrived in Elko where he worked for Cooper Motors; he also worked for Wright Motor Company, Dale White, and Riverton. Some may remember him driving bus to several mines, or most recently working at Dotty’s Casino. Fred was the proud founder of Morrodders Car Club, and enjoyed restoring cars for himself and others.

Fred is survived by his wife of 15 years Diana (Underwood) of Elko, NV; brothers Richard (Sandy) of Port Orange, FL, and Danny of Cartersville, GA. Daughters Anne McMillan, Tara Butler, and Jennifer (Ronnie) Brown, all of St. Pauls, NC; son Brody (Janay) Heilman of Grand Junction, CO. Stepchildren Ricci (Jason) Slobodnik of Las Vegas, NV, Leigh Ann (Sean) Dufurrena of Boise, ID, and Robbie Underwood of Elko, NV. “Other Daughter” Terree (Mark) Chisum, brother-in-law Phil (Sharon) Schwartz of Waseca, MN; nine beloved grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Fred is preceded in death his late wife Sandy (Schwartz) Heilman, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held March 6, 2010, 5 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 368 Spring Creek Parkway, Spring Creek, NV 89815. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at http://fredheilman.blogspot.com.

The unexpected loss of Fred

Our beloved father, husband and friend Frederick Heilman passed away in Albert Lea, Minnesota on Monday March 1st, while tending to his mother's funeral.

Details about a service are still being determined.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, a fund has been set up through Paypal to help our family pay for funeral services and other expenses.
